Crossroads at Big Creek Hosts Sustain Door Inc.’s Sustainability Fair 2010, Apr 24
We
will celebrate Earth Day on April 22 and continue to celebrate well
into May. During the coming month, students from seven area
schools will be involved in educational activities and service
projects. But our biggest event is this weekend.

at Big Creek will host Sustain Door, Inc.’s Sustainability Fair 2010 on
Saturday, April 24 from 10 am t0 to 4 pm. The Historical Village at The
Crossroads will be included in the “fair grounds” where participants
can tour displays from more than forty sustainable vendors and
producers of green products while members of the Door County Historical
Society interpret the building in The Historical Village.
The
first 25 Door County residents who choose more sustainable options for
traveling to the Fair will be rewarded for their efforts. Those who
carpool (four or more riders), bike, hike, ski or dogsled to Crossroads
should check in at the Sustain Door table to receive their award.
Activities
for children will include kite flying, art projects, newspaper seedling
pots and seed planting, stories and hikes to Big Creek (where we hope
the fish will still be running.) .
In the Collins Learning
Center, an impressive roster of guest speakers will present programs
and you will learn about Green Resources from the Sturgeon Bay Library
or about Door County Greenprint from Door County Soil and Water
Conservation Department personnel. The Door County Sustainability Fair
is a Travel Green Wisconsin Certified Event. Admission is free.

restoring the mixed hardwood forest on the hill east of the Crossroads
